May 2022 - Call for input on use of COVID relief dollars to support students with disabilities
Poudre School District (PSD) is seeking community input about how to spend American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) fund dollars, under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act of 2021. Once approved, PSD will use about $165,222 in ARP ESSER SUPPLEMENTAL funds during the 2022-2023 school years to address the impact of the pandemic on students.
This survey is open through Sunday, May 8. If you would prefer, you may email your input or questions to Covidfunds@psdschools.org.
To inform PSD's use of ARP-ESSER SUPPLEMENTAL funds, we are gathering input from our stakeholders. This input will be used to develop a Supplemental Funding Plan that PSD will submit to the Colorado Department of Education for review in May 2022. As this plan is approved, PSD will receive funding to execute it. Please note that these funds are one-time in nature and will not be used for ongoing costs.
On Aug. 24, 2021, the Poudre School District Board of Education approved PSD's proposed budget for how to spend federal pandemic response funds. The district used community feedback to develop the budget for using ARP ESSER fund dollars, under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The proposed budget will be submitted to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) for review. The CDE will determine which expenditures are considered allowable.
Once approved, PSD will receive about $15.5 million in ARP ESSER funds in the 2021-22 school year for the safe operation of schools and to address the impact of the pandemic on students.
Board approval of proposed ARP ESSER budget
Community members were given the opportunity to share their thoughts through a survey, by email or during public forums held July 2021. PSD received 1,426 responses to the survey that was open July 6-20.
All community input was evaluated through the lens of allowable costs, as determined by the federal government and CDE. Because the funds are one-time, salary increases or other similar, ongoing costs will not be considered.
Throughout the pandemic, PSD has prioritized its use of federal dollars for health and safety, continuation of operations, learning loss, and social and emotional/mental health supports.
